Overview

ECO BOOM discloses some information in multiple areas of The Conscious Score. We like that they have great certifications for ingredients, they source some of their materials in sustainable ways, they have intentional packaging, and parents seem to really like the performance of their diapers. But they are not yet adequately managing their impact across their supply chain for human rights, animal rights, and while they have made efforts to help save the environment by choosing better ingredients, there is still some work to be done. So, how do they stack up against the Conscious Score? See why they received a D Rating below.

Ingredients
Overview

Eco Boom has the Oeko Tex Standard Product Class 1 certification and based on this standard the diapers are considered free from VOCs, BPAs, heavy metals and more. (When we stay free from, there are trace amounts allowed, see standards here). They disclose little to no relevant or concrete information about their ingredients on their website, and we had to do some digging to verify what the diaper is free from. But we would love to know what is in the actual diaper. There is also no mention of parabens or being free from lotions. Based on our standards and their transparency, Eco Boom gets a C for The Ingredient Pillar of The Conscious Score.

Environment

ECO BOOM uses sustainably sourced bamboo and fluff, they engage in waste reduction by having 70% of their diaper biodegrade, as well as using d2w for their packaging which helps them use 30% less plastic waste than regular diapers. They have certifications and audits to back their claims up. While they do disclose some information about their environmental practices, they are not yet adequately managing their impacts across their supply chain. We know nothing about CO2 emissions, energy use, water management and more. Based on our standards and their transparency ECO BOOM receives a D for the Environmental Pillar of The Conscious Score.

Human Rights

ECO BOOM discloses no relevant or concrete information about their human rights practices. Based on our standards, ECO BOOM receives an F for the Human Rights pillar of The Conscious Score.

Animal Rights

ECO BOOM discloses little to no relevant or concrete information about their animal rights practices. In one case on their homepage we see an ambiguous claim that states they do not harm animals but the video just talks about the forest they source materials from. This has no material impact and is in our opinion, greenwashing. ECO BOOM gets an F for the Animal Rights Pillar of The Conscious Score.
